I visited the chemist to buy some medicine and was shocked with the ignorance of the pharmacist. I also noticed an old lady in a mobility scooter was waiting at the counter before me. He knew we were waiting because he looked at us on a number of occasions but he never acknowledged us, instead he hid in the room behind the counter. We had to wait over 15 minutes before another member of staff came to to the counter. By this time, I had enough and went to Boots to get my medicine. There , I received prompt service and a coupon for my troubles. I shall shop at Boots from now on.

It is a shame to see the iconic M&S be replaced with a company which clearly lacks "prestige". There are now two Poundlands in the town centre and the newer store offers nothing new; just the same nondescript fare but in larger quantities.
The quality intrinsic to a company such as the former M&S shall be sorely missed.

One of my fondest memories of this park is when my mother brought me and my brothers here to play in the old playground which was located in the south-east behind the bandstand. There was a concrete rolling hill section where there was a slide at the peak of a hill and monkey bars which spanned a small concrete valley; I remember being terrified and amazed of this play area which was cruelly shifted to the inferior whale paddling pool section in later years. There was also a greenhouse-type aviary, however, my best memory was of my mother taking us to the travelling amusement fair which was kept annually (then) in Pingles Park and walking through the tunnel underneath the railway line separating the two parks. Thanks to our Mum, my brothers and I enjoyed toffee apples, train rides and the thrill of listening to our echoes in the dark tunnel.

A location which is an important part of my childhood. My father used to bring me here when I was a small child. Later, I visited here often from childhood to early adolescence playing football on the grass field (whilst being chased by the occasional dog) and cricket using the old pelican spring rider as the stumps!
Me and my childhood friends would go through a phase of either using this park or Courtaulds Park (further south) as our main venue for recreation. I miss the good old days!

The new feature to add comments to photos is very useful indeed, so I have re-uploaded the old photo of the Riley's Pool Snooker and Poker Club of how it looked before when the nightclub ‘Fever ‘moved in to this location.

Dave, this is not the official website for 'The Dance Unit'. This is a geographic website which identifies places. It's kinda like Pamoramio and Wikipedia rolled into one. However, none of the actual owners are ever linked to this site, especially via communications.
